First Haircut

So, I am again a Stay-Home Mom. With all the drama with who's gonna take care of Mikel, I might as well be the one to take care of him, again, just like old times.. It's been like 2 weeks already that I resigned from my teaching job.

Anyway, the reason why I blogged is cause Mikel had his first haircut yesterday! As in the very very first!
Mama Cay was the one who did it. Well I did the cutting first, and realized that I don't know what I am doing Haha! So Mama Cay finished what I started. Kept the first lock of hair I cut :)
The haircut needs fixing a little bit thou cause Mikel was so likot (he wanted to get the scissors). We might try again when he's in a good mood during breakfast.

Close to 1yr and 8 months

So Mikel it's about to turn 1 yr 8 months already.
How time flies!

He looks like a big boy already but still doesn't talk. There were some words that he would say but then forget about them after a week more or less. But I can hear his effort naman cause he keeps on talking "alien" language or as Lola likes to call it "Nagsasalita ng Hapon".

He laughs a lot though (well, with Me, Manny and Mamu) cause I guess Mikel is suplado with others. But once he warms up with you, be sure to get ready to see him smile or laugh :)

He still likes Mickey Mouse and Spaghetti. And now he likes French Fries a lot! He started to eat chocolate too. I tried to give him na before but he didn't like it at all. but suddenly he wanted na now. But we rarely give him sweets though.

His fave toy is his toy car which Mamu bought for him a few days ago (it's a yellow and red car matchbox type car but a little bigger lang). He "drives" it around everywhere!

His fave book is still "I Love You Forever". There was a time when he make me read that to him everynight and over and over. If I try to read another book, he'll close the book and cry. Now he's ok with a different book everynight na.

Everytime he eats. he likes it when we say "Stronger, bigger and lots of Muscles." <--with actions pa.

He loves the song "Slippery Fish, Oh no..." and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Twinkle Twinkle".

He got tired of "Mr. Sun" na ata.

He still runs around. but he plays with his toys more now. Before kasi he just holds one toy and then run around with it. He likes the hammer and ball toy that we gave him for Christmas. He would really smash with all his might! Haha!

He knows how to make drama na. He would make himself cry and then check slowly if you're looking at him! It's so funny!

That's it for now. I have to make Mikel get ready for bed already :)

My boss finally asked me to decide (long story), so I asked my mom straight out. She said she'll take care of Mikel again if I pomise to help out at home more and not go out and let her take care of Mikel. I have to be bahay-work-bahay, and get home the quickest that I can. So yeah, I'm even worse than Cinderella haha, but it's all for Mikel anyway. :) Besides I can always let Manny take care of Mikel if I really needed to go somewhere. Plus I get to spend more time with my cute kulit baby boy whose not much of a baby these days.

Anyway, Mikel has been so hyper lately. You can never catch him walking (always running). Well, excpet that one time when Ninong Luigi let Mikel wear rain boots! (just a little bit bigger than his size) But then once he practiced and figured the boots out, he ran...again.

His Tantrums worsen. He would just scream and then wiggle himself out of your hands and then lie on the floor, wriggling, if he doesn't get what he wants or if he gets frustrated with what he is doing (and i tell you, he gets frustrated sooo fast, and so often) ex. When he's playing with the stackables and couldn't put one on top of the other. Or if he couldn't sleep. or the string that he's holding (which he thinks is a string from a balloon maybe) isn't flying/standing up (whatever you call it), oh and there's so much more incidents just like those!

I'm thinking maybe his TV watching could be a factor so I now cut his TV viewing time. He used to just open TV by himself and watch whenever he wants. But now we have this Sing/Dance moment. LOL! I'd dock my iPod on my speakers and play Mikel's playlist and Jump/Clap and Shake our sillies out! Haha! He specially loved the song Boom Boom ain't it great to be Crazy! and would smile everytime he'd hear it.

Mama Cay thinks Mikel should be checked up by a Dev Ped. She thinks he has something. Like ADHD or something like that. Well, I don't think so, I think he's just a hyper-active boy just like his Daddy was when he was a kid. Plus he's a Gemini, and gemini's are extra hyper than others. I sure hope I am right and not Mama Cay...

BTW, he still haven't said Mommy yet (or any other word for that matter). Oh I think he tried to say Mommy a few times or maybe I just thought. I wonder when he'll be able to talk. His 1 yr old cousin even know more words than him! I don't want to be a Mommy who pressures her son, or someone who compares but it's just that My mom thinks he has something that needs to be checked and then the fact that he's still not talking yet, so that makes me think. Oh well...

The Breakdown

it's been a really long time since my last update. So much has been happening lately that even if my computer is busted and I'm using my Ninang's itouch, I just had to blog. So excuse the lack of style and pictures, might edit this na lang when I get the chance. So anyway, my mom had a breakdown lastweek and she said she won't take care of Mikel anymore. I spent days thinking about who will take care of Mikel while I'm at work. Last Friday I even took Mikel with me to work and he got to play with my 3 yr old students. Well, anyway, I asked Manny to take care of Mikel after work cause he goes out at around 7am. I also asked my boss if I could work halfday for the month of December. Thing is, after December, I still don't have any idea on how it'll work. Mom specifically said no yaya cause our previous maid was the one who made her breakdown, well Mikel also cause he was really cranky that time too. I'll let you guys know when I've decided already. Tip next update

1st time in the Hospital :(

So a lot has happened already since my last post...

1st, no more maid/yaya. She said that the real Mommy of her adopted child (back in Mindanao) is trying to get her baby back from her. oh the drama (which I doubt is even real btw)! Anyway, whatever, we're better off without her anyway.

Thing is after she left, Mikel started vomiting. We had him checked with the doctor (a different one since we panicked that night cause Mikel refused to eat or drink too). The doctor said it was Dyspepsia. The next day, Mikel started pooping too! It was watery, yellowish and smelled fishy! So we rushed him to his Pedia at once. She suspected it might be from the water we used to bathe him. She said he might have drank some. And he got confined on that day right after the check up (Oct 25). It was the first time he got confined in the hospital. aww :(

We have Healthcard (Intellicare) for Mikel so money was not a worry (Thank God). But there wasn't any room available so we had to stay in the ward for a couple of days. It was hard sharing a room with 4 other families. Babies were crying (although Mikel cried the loudest and the most number of times too! [hehe our room mates didn't get enough sleep cause of us]), Nurses and Doctors were coming in and out of the room almost every 5 mins and there wasn't any TV to entertain Mikel so he won't be kulit to want to go down the bed (well, we brought portable DVD, which eventually broke after a few days).

I just had to get the TV and ref inside a private room for us, so I made sure they prioritazed us (cause there was a list of all the people who wants to be tranferred to a private room if there was a vacancy, and on that list we were number 16! Haha!). From a Number 16 on the 1st day, we were still at number 12 on the 2nd day! So I insisted our doctor to move us up! and I hung out at the admitting desk so they'll really be pressured to find a room for us. Mama Cay went to the rooms and made the nurses work faster so that we can finally move! And we did, on the 2nd day! Finally! :)

And I thought I would get enough rest when we moved to a private room! I was wrong, nurses still kept coming in most of the time, but yeah, this was better than when we were in the ward. :)

Oh I forgot to tell you that the nurses were having a hard time putting the IV. They said they couldn't find a vein, Oh no! But they did eventually on his right hand, but then later on the vein collapse and Mikel's hand got swollen. They had to try again on his right foot! So Mikel had his IV on his foot that's why we had a hard time cause the wires kept on twisting around his body cause he was so gulo especially when he was sleeping. He would toss and turn looking for a comfy position to sleep.

When the results came, he turned out to have e.coli bacteria in his tummy. Maybe cause of the water nga. I really don't know, so now we have to boil the water he's gona bathe in just to be sure. Plus we have to be extra careful when handling him, so alcohol always after changing nappies. And we sterilized all his things already.

We just got home awhile ago (Oct 31). Spent my whole Sembreak vacation in the hospital! But it's ok, at least I got to spend it with Mikel ;) but I'm glad to be back home!

Have I told everyone that Mikel sings "Baby Beluga"?
He says.. "Duda, duda, duda"

Also we have this book and Count from Sesame Street is in it. It says "One blue burst, Two red ripples, Three purple pinwheels, etc" And we read it to him imitating Count's voice with an "Ah, ah, ah" after every sentence.
He now also says "Two :gibberish: Ah, ah,ah.."

I couldn't find time to update my blog anymore. It's either I'm too busy or I'm too sleepy.

Mikel is so hyper! All he wants to do is run run run and play play and then play some more, then maybe read books a little. He;s so tiring! And to top it off he doesn't want to sleep! He kept on sleeping at around 3am for a couple of days now. He slept at 10pm tonight. Mommy's hoping he won't wake up in a couple of hours to play til 3am! (That's what he did last night).

Anyway, Mikel can't say Mommy yet. but he can say "Excuse me" after he burps. :)
He still can't talk really, all he does is mumble and talk "alien talk" all day. I'm hoping he'll talk soon. Well, at least say Mommy already! :)

He's also beginning to take interest in other children.

Oh, BTW, we have a maid na. Not a Yaya. But a maid (Alma) :) Mama Cay will still be the one taking care of Mikel while I'm at work, while Alma will cook and clean :) and maybe if she stays with us for a long time, she might be upgraded to Mikel's yaya when we move out :)

Mommy Cara in WorkingMom Mag

Well...
Finally! It's out! :)
..it's actually for PMC :)

Mommy Ruby asked me if it's ok that I be interviewed about PMC for a certain mag. I didn't say yes at first cause I was busy with work and Mikel, but I eventually changed my mind thinking that this might really be a good experience and a few hours of my time isn't so hard to give :)

After having a conference with the other Mommies who will be with me in the interview/shoot (Mommy Aerin and Mommy Charm), I got really excited. I suddenly can't wait for the shoot!

So Shoot day came (September 9, 2008). Shoot was in Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Bonifacio High Street. So right after work (1pm) I went home, ate lunch, had a quick shower then left na for the fort. I took a shuttle to Ayala in Mcdo Sucat then met with Manny in Shell (the one in Makati na dun sa daan papuntang Fort, I'm clueless with names of places, sorry. haha)
Basta arrived na in CBTL around 4:20pm ata when meeting time was 4pm. Haha!

It was cool when we got there. There were cool lights and there was a makeup artist pa! feeling artista ang dating! Hahaha!

Ms. Rowanda Lei was really friendly and very warm to talk to, so there wasn't any problem with the interview part. The Photographer was also cool. He would also laugh at our jokes and make some jokes himself too, that made us very comfortable working with him.

After the Interview/Shoot, we just couldn't wait to see the result! :)

'FunRanch'ing on a Holiday

While Mama Cay and Lolo Bob were at South SuperMarket, Mikel and I went to Fun Ranch cause lately Mikel insists on going out. He would get his shoes and tug on the stroller. So wawa naman, bored at home.

I let him play there for an hour. Then we ate meryenda. :)
He had a free balloon pa! The first one he got was a blue sword but it popped (wawa, he cried). Then I got him a baloon again (yellow sword this time).

He loved the Big Keyboard this time (before was the pool of balls). He just couldn't stop walking over the keys.

We also went to the 2nd level this time. Mommy got a bit scared of heights haha! That's why we didn't stay long there.

Maybe next time we'll try to go on the third level. :scared:

Mikel really enjoyed it there! He didn't even want to leave yet but we had to cause our 1 hour was up.

He was crying cause he couldn't get his feet up. haay.
Actually, that started way back when he was a baby, like 5 months or maybe earlier, can't really remember when exactly. But I know, it was with his stroller. When we stroll him around the house or outside, he would ALWAYS put his feet up.
Now, my dilemma.. If I put his feet down, he won't eat. he would only eat when his feet are up the table. should I teach him table manners already at his age?

Mikel had fun with his cousin Ico! They were playing Peek-a-Boo! Mikel would laugh and be all kilig when Ico would surprise him from under the couch!

It was Lola meng's Birthday. We went to Festival after lunch. Lola Meng and Mama Cay played BINGO. Mikel and I hung out in Robinsons :) Then we all went back to Lola meng's house to eat dinner and be with the whole Ballesca Family. Well, not everyone was there.

Mikel blew his food (fish and rice) before eating it (with his hands).. He was immitating Mama Cay. It was soo funny! With sound effects pa -"Whhh.."
And he kept on doing it because Mama Cay and I were laughing so hard, Mikel also laughed with us!

Mikel's first day of School!

Purple Room, Saturday Class.

He loved it!

During freeplay, he just kept on walking and walking and taking out toys in its basket. And he's holding pa a banana or a knife!!! He loves the knife! He was holding it almost the whole freetime. (uh-oh Mikel, Mommy's scared hehe).

He didn't want to do art (it was painting using that rolling thing). He just wanted to hold the toy camera the whole art time.

He loved the romp! He was playing with the windows of the little tikes house. (playing peek-a-boo with it). After romp he cried casue I had to take the purple hoop from him (casue bawal ilabas).

Then came snack time, naku... he grabbed his classmate's graham crackers and yakult! Haha! He just ate and ate this Fita and drank his juice. Everyone was done eating na, he was still eating. I had to eat the remaining two fita biscuits so that he'll stop eating na! (cause no more time eh).

At storytime he was listening at first, and all his classmates weren't. (I know he loves storytelling, he loves it here at home when I read him a story eh). But during the end part of the story he wanted to play na rin like his classmates.

It was fun! Sana pwede ba ulit next week. Hehe! The deal was kasi pag meron pang slots eh pwede pa si mikel for free, but pag kulang na slots then di na.

I got to bring home Mikel's art pala. Which wasn't really his work kasi he didn't want to even try. Parang there were blots of paint lang cause he was crying and wanted to get out of there kaya nalagyan ng paint yung paper haha! I'll try to take a pic of it later :)

First, I would like to say that lately I don't have any other wacky pics of me with either sweetie or Mikel. I dunno, before I used to take loads of wacky pics of myself. Now, not anymore. Sweetie's still in the hospital :(

Sweetie's confined in the Hospital (LPDH) for 1 week already!
I forgot what name of sickness, but it has something to do with his throat being swollen (or maybe the tonsils or something). It's nothing serious, just that he had fever for almost a week and the swollen part is still swollen til now. I think he'll be confined for another day or two, just so he could continue getting antibiotics (straight from IV kasi). And besides he won't be able to work naman since he can't talk well and in his work all he does is talk on the phone.
I know he misses Mikel sooo much. He hasn't seen him for over a week! Awww. :(

UPDATE: He's out now! :) (08/21/08 Thurs)

We were home alone awhile ago during dinner (well, Lolo Bob as here but he as in his room the whole time). We had a blast! Mikel and Mommy were laughing non stop. Why? Nothing really. Mommy found Mikel so cute and funny and Mikel laughed when Mommy laughed ;) Which made Mommy laugh again. Hehe!

Mikel LOVES his juice! Apple juice to be specific. He'd cry because he wanted to hold the tetrapack all by himself! (sometimes kasi he presses it and it spills on him, that's why mommy prefers he doesn't hold it on his own)

Lola Ninang sent a box from Australia and there were lots of tetrapack juices for babies and some snacks.

He loves the juice but doesn't like all the snacks. Some were too sour for him.

Mikel's 1st Motorcycle Ride

Today was Mikel's 1st time to ride a Motorcycle. And not just a stationary one, cause after this shot, Sweetie started the engine and we (Sweetie, Mikel and I) went for a stroll around the village (a very slow stroll for Mikel's safety). NR si Mikel. (as in No Reaction). He just sat there and looked left and right, but his face was neutral looking. Hehe!

This was yesterday, when I left Mikel with Mama Cay while I went to work. Mama Cay said she also caught Mikel picking his nose that day (which I caught also the night before, and put his finger in his mouth after eeww! Haha).

BTW, I was reading my blog posts and I realized I never blogged about Mikel saying "Circle" and "Dirty". So I'll document it now. Mikel said Circle the 2 Wednesdays ago. He kept on saying it for the whole week! Then said Dirty last week and forgot about Circle. He kept on saying Dirty for a couple of days.

He doesn't say Daddy anymore. But he did say it once a few days ago while watching Playhouse Disney (It was a commercial about Mummy and Daddy).

Had a very fun but tiring day today (but still I am up blogging about it. Haha!).

Today was my first day trial at Toddlers. The Children were extra kulit today compared to the last time I was there. And it was Alexis' Birthday! That's why the kids were extra excited and extra hyper. But I had fun eventhough I only had 4 hours of sleep the night before.

My sweetie fetched me from work. We were hoping that Mama Cay would let us watch The Dark Knight today, since we've been anticipating for it for months now. Since she woke up early to take care of Mikel when I was at work, we didn't think she'd say yes. Maybe she realized how important it is for us to watch it this weekend (lol. how pathetic. haha!).

So we just stayed for a few minutes at home before leaving again for the movies. And didn't really get to spend time with Mikel cause had to get things ready for Mama Cay and had to sort the laundry.

We bought the 9:15pm showing cause that was the earliest one that could fit our budget. lol
Got home around 12:30-1am.

I need to finish my daily routine before going to bed and then it's time for my ZzZz's

Mikel 1st time with Kitchen Utensil and Rice Cooker Bowl (not really sure what's it called cause I am clueless when it comes to the kitchen).
I read somewhere that appropriate toys for a 1 year old are Pots and Pans. They like the sound when they bang them to each other. I was sterilizing his bottles and didn't want him to be cranky and throw a tantrum so I gave him "toys".

Mikel ate dirt today! Hahaha! I was too late. He put this sand/dirt from the plant pot in our garden in his mouth! I got it out before he could swallow it, buti na lang.

Mama Cay said that's proof that he's not a baby anymore, but a toddler!

Anyway, I went to the interview today. It went okay. Just okay hehe. I was really nervous and I think It kind of showed. So they let me observe classes today and participate na rin but I'm not sure if I got the job or not. Maybe It's still part of the "interview". And tomorrow they asked me to prepare something like a game or an activity for the kids. I will also read a story to them. Met the kids today and they're great! Nakakagigil! Wish I could just hug them all!
I wish I 'll get the job. Haay. Hope I'll do good tomorrow.

Why Teaching Preschool is for Me.

Maybe I could think of something to write when I blog about it first. So here..

Why is preschool teaching for me?

Well, why not? First of all, I have a 1 year old boy so I speak from experience. I may not have taught in preschool before but I ~~have taught~~ am teaching my son. I teach him to count, to recognize colors, to speak, to know what's right and what's wrong, and lots of other things. We also sing nursery rhymes and read books at home. I am my son's teacher and I will always be (even when the time comes when he'll have lots of other teachers in school).

But what differs me from all the other mommies out there? Well, first, I am dedicated. I am dedicated to learn. The students will learn from me, but I will also learn from them.We will learn together. It's like a two way thing. I have experience with my son and I will apply it in school, I will learn from school and I will apply it to my son. It's a win-win situation really.

Another thing that differs me from others is that I share Toddlers Unlimited's Vision. I want my son and everyone else to enjoy going to school. And by that, we should let them learn by discovering and experience things on their own (like playing). If we give them books to memorize and worksheets to answer, then the lessons will probably not stick. Unlike if they experience it, then they will never forget it, and they would probably understand it better, than memorizing it and not asking anymore questions.

And before I forget, I love Children. I enjoy talking to them and playing with them. Feels like I am a kid too. I can be silly with them, but be a friend and a confidante to them.

It's a nice feeling when you know that you have fed their minds with valuable information and know that they really have processed this information. Being a teacher doesn't mean you just teach them math, science or art but you teach them values and I know I am a good role model to them. It's also nice when they look forward to seeing their teacher everyday, and I'll make sure that they would.

Being a teacher is the most important job in the world. Imagine you are who mold the children into the person they will be when they grow up. It's a great responsibility and I am more than happy to do it. Nothing can take away the joy of being a preschool teacher, and I would love to experience that.

This morning I cut a few cubes of cheese and put it in a small Tupperware. Brought it upstairs and fed Mikel some of it. Sealed the Tupperware and gave it to Mikel to play with. We were running late (to go to checkup) so I put aside the Tupperware with the cheese and gave Mikel a bath.

Thing is, I couldn't find that Tupperware anywhere in my room! Searched for it the whole day! I forgot where I put it.

I'm scared to find it one day and it's all bulok na! Haha! kadire!

Well I'm not really glued to the couch and watching TV all day. I have to take care of Mikel, sterilize, feed Mikel, give Mikel a bath, play with Mikel, and lots of other things. But when I can, I'd watch Smallville and I have the urge to munch on something while doing so.

So much for losing weight! I actually feel heavier (I'm afraid to weigh myself). Haha!

PS: I need to sleep, but can't. Smallville's getting more interesting. Can't turn off DVD.

Made Tuna Fettuccine for Lunch today. Well i used Spaghetti Noodles..so do I still call it Fettuccine? Haha! I'm so clueless with these kinds of things. I don't really belong in the kitchen.. I'm convincing myself that I do. hehe!

Anyway, Mikel (and my brother) loved my pasta! Wheew. I'm thankful nothing bad happend to the noodles cause today was the first time ever I tried cooking noodles for pasta. The sauce I've done once before (Mama Cay was the one who cooked the noodles last time).

I Hate Sterilizing!

Just finished sterilizing 14 Bottles of Mikel!

My titas said before that they hated sterilizing... At that time (Mikel was a few months old) I didn't really hate doing it. Even wondered why they hate it more than anything else. I hated cleaning poop before, not sterilizing the bottles.

But now.. I do hate sterilizing! I realized now that they hated sterilizing not cause it's hard work or it's icky or anything like that. It's cause it's something I HAVE to do everyday and it takes at least 30mins (for 7 bottles) to do it (when I say 30mins, I meant when I'm rushing). I also have to wait til Mikel is sleeping cause I can't just leave him for that long and sterilize.

My Son is 1 yr old. When can/should I stop sterilizing? Hehe!

Went to festival today with Mama Cay. While she was having her haircut, Mikel and I window shopped and then hung out at Kids Playhouse (well, I'm not really sure of its name. haha!). Mikel had fun there although he didn't really played with the toys. He just walked and walked there. I made him go inside the balls area (dunno what it's called haha), loved it there as well but his love for walking is far more greater than anything so got him out to walk again. We also ate in Mcdonalds. Mikel had his fave...Spaghetti!

Went to Alabang Town Center (ATC).
Bought Mama Cay's gift for Mikel (which he opened later that day).
We bought na rin gift for Mikel (but to be opened on his birthday party on Sunday).
We had a little Salo-salo when we got home. (Just us: Mommy, Daddy, Mama Cay, Lolo Bob and Ninong Luigi).
Mikel slept around 9pm, ut then he woke up around 11pm and won't stop crying. Maybe he got a tummy ache from eating so much Spaghetti and Chicken plus some Cake (We let him eat cause it's his birthday. hehe!).

Gave him tempra, then He slept for about 3 hours.

He just woke up now. Hope he's all better. I wouldn't want him to be sick on his birthday (which is 2 days away).

UPDATE: Just checked his temp after giving him tempra again, it's 36.9! no more fever :) I hope his temp won't go up again.

I was staring at my computer screen a few seconds ago trying to figure out how to put into words what I wanted to say to you. I Miss You, a whole lot! I wish we spent more time together. I just realized that I rarely saw you ever since my College days (maybe even before that), and I regret that so much. It was so easy to call you or to come over (even if you're at the other end of Manila), but I chose to be with friends. I'm glad you're coming over to see your apo Mikel. I don't want him to not know you cause you ~~have been~~ are my confidante and my friend. You give me great advices and you taught me how to be optimistic. You always motivate me when I'm down and push me when I'm feeling hopeless. You are my sunshine! You always lighten up my day ever since I was a kid (baduy but I mean it).
Thanks for trying to get everything I want (I may be unreasonable sometimes, but you still try your best to get it for me). I just wanted to make sure you know how sorry I am for being such a spoiled brat sometimes.

Daddy bought Mikel this guitar back when he was 7months old. He wasn't allowed to use it then though cause he might hurt himself with the strings. Daddy was the one who played it (I think he just used Mikel as an excuse to buy one haha).
Anyway, I was playing with the real guitar of Ninong Luigi, Mikel wanted to strum too. So took out his toy guitar and let him play it (since he's nearing 1 yr old already). He loved the real guitar better... it doesn't sound quite the same.

Mommy Cara and Baby Mikel

This was the first time I saw my baby. The first time I carried a baby. I was a new Mom and I don't really know much about babies, haven't even held one before. I was really nervous about it but my excitement overpowered everything else. This very moment was very magical to me. And I don't think any words can explain how much this moment changed and moved me.

The story behind it:
I didn't see Mikel until the 2nd day where I got up and walked all the way to the Nursery to inform the nurses that I wanted to see my little angel. Mikel was born thru C-Section so my tummy was really aching, but I just had to see him and I was willing to take all the pain to see my baby boy. That's the true essence of Motherhood, you'd give everything up, you'd sacrifice all just for your baby. And to think that this is the 1st (or 2nd) day as a mommy and already I portrayed the essence of Motherhood.

Went to Sm Southmall awhile ago to meet up with my sweetie's bestfriend Conrado and his wife Maricris and their daughter Bianca, kasama rin pala sister ni Maricris na si Karen. (just so you know they're from Riyadh, visit lang sila here Philippines for 3 weeks, tapos next year na ulit sila balik).

Nag Ice skating si Bianca. But of course si Mikel is too young for that pa so watch lang kami. Sweetie wanted to try sana (kasi never pa siyang nakapag ice skating...ever) pero next time na lang daw para kasama ako mag ice skating. Haha! I foresee a ice skating date in the near future. lol

Then while waiting for Bianca to finish mag iceskate eh nagpunta kami sa mga pang kids na rides, and nag picture tripping.

Nagawa ko na to (meaning it's so so simple to do) and I tell you ang sarap niya although fattening kasi dami butter, cream, cheese, etc.

So sa mga hindi marunong magluto-try to do this

GT's FAMOUS TUNA FETTUCCINE

Ingredients:

1 nestle all purpose cream
1/2 cup water
1 and 1/2 cans century tuna (Flakes in vegetable oil) - drained
1/2 bar cheddar cheese *I used Magnolia's Cheezy but you can use your preferred cheese like quickmelt, etc.* - grated
2 cloves or 2 butil of garlic - minced
1/4 bar butter
1 pack of San Remo Noodles 500 grams - I cooked only half of this (I personally use spaghetti noddles like royal, like it better than the flat kind)

*Serves 5-6 people

1. Melt butter in pan over low fire. Once melted, wait 2 minutes and put the garlic. Fry til the garlic is golden brown. Add the tuna. Fry for 5 minutes over low-medium fire. Add the cream and the water and cheese. Mix altogether and continue stirring for five-seven minutes (still over low fire) or til the cheese is all melted.

*If not salty enough, you can add more grated cheese or patis, depends on your choice.

2. Cook Noodles separately.

3. Put desired amount of sauce onto the noodles and serve. You may add grated cheese on top.

Mikel has lots of toys!

...But his favorite to play with are his books. Especially the Sesame Street book which pages are torn already (cause of him rin).

His other favorite is the Animal Scene Magazine that we have here (which I bought for my mom when I was pregnant). I just see to it that he doesn't put the magazine in his mouth haha!

I hope that when he grows older he would still love reading! Hehe!

As for Comfort toys, last week he was attached to this green stress ball. But now hindi na. He would hold on to it when he's walking and even when he's sleeping! (got no pics but it's in the video on my last post).

Actually he got it perfectly before I got the chance to record it. He even gave me the 2 balls at the same time. But when I tried to capture it on video he doesn't cooperate (but I got it nevertheless).

I think he cried at the end cause I didn't give him his ball back. Haha!

My first MOTHERS DAY.

So Mother's Day is over (meaning my chance for a special day is over too).

It's not that today isn't special for me. It is. I got to be reminded how important being a mother is. How important I am being a mother to my Mikel. Without me then I don't think my "hubby" and my son will survive (ok, survive is such a strong word, how about function well?).

Don't get me wrong, My Hubby is wonderful with Mikel (actually ako nga yung mas madaling mafrustrate hehe). Thing is he's over protective, over maalagain, over maawain, over whatever. Me naman I'm a bit careless at times (well not really, I just seem like that, but the truth is I CARE so much, as much as my hubby cares rin but we have different ways of showing it lang). Lets just say we make a great team with Mikel. We balance each other out haha. And the reason I say they can't function well without me is because I know Mikel. I know our routine by heart. Hubby likes to do things his way (I don't blame him), but when doing it his way eh kelangan niya ko to clean up his mess (even if he denies it pa). Like he would need to reheat water for Mikel's bath cause nalagyan niya ng daming soap (bubbles) yung water sa tub, and he wanted to rinse Mikel with clear water (So I do the reheating).

Anyway...

When I hear MOTHER's DAY, I think of a relaxing day at the Spa or a Day out for Mommy sa Mall, etc. But what happened today? -Not Much..

Just.. Cleaning of Poopoo (Like 5 times before noon..Mikel has diarrhea kasi), Doing the Laundry as well as sampay and fold (I don't iron all the clothes kasi), Sterilizing, And doing nothing after that.

Well, I guess that's being a Mommy. And this day wouldn't have been without these Stuff we do as Mommies.

I even whined about not getting any gift from my Hubby today, which I later realized that he's not really the gift giving type and that he makes me feel special everyday so that makes up for the giftless Birthdays, Valentines and Other Special Days (Oh did I mention that we don't even celebrate Anniversaries, what more Monthsaries haha). He takes me out shopping naman if I want to, he's just not into surprise gifts or anything like that. He would just ask me what I want and we'll go buy it together haha! And besides, it's the son/daughter who give gifts to Mommies on Mother's day anyway. Haha so silly me for being such a whiner.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much on my 1st ever Mother's day.

BTW, We're going to SM naman tomorrow (maybe). I asked for it kasi before hubby left. I said If wala na diarrhea si Mikel we should go out (kahit pasyal lang sa mall for awhile) cause I am sick of being stuck at home.
And he agreed. :D
So My "Mother's Day" is special after all, At least I got to extend it til tomorrow haha!
